At 0x, the mission of the team is to create a token run atmosphere where value flows like water. They’ve made a lot of progress in advancing their mission by helping a large number of successful teams create relayers that have resulted in more than $170 Million of ERC20 Trading Volume.

But, to make the adoption mainstream, they must overcome a major UX challenge aligned with self-responsibility and on-boarding new users to a world of apps, running on decentralized networks. Today, they are happy to unveil the new 0x Portal, a dApp that is perfect for bringing on new users, education and discovery for relayering.

Motivation

As the amount of coins available for public blockchains rises, they see dozens of relayers developing to serve the needs of the niches and communities in the market. While each of the relayer may be unique, the procedure to set up a new account on the Ethereum Network to use 0x protocol is always the same, no matter what relayer is used. 0x Portail is made to provide to basic functions:

  1. Discover Relayers
  2. Educate Users and Bring On New Ones

Working inside the blockchain of Ethereum with a dApp exposes the rough edges of UX that don’t show up on other apps. Explaining the Ethereum account concept as well as private keys is difficult, as is showing a new user how to work with a decentralized network exchange. Relayers have identified the user on-boarding process as a critical one that will drive the user growth while creating many on-boarding flows.

Portal also gives a custom on boarding low that is universal, so it is likely to work great. With three simple steps, your wallet will be prepared to trade on any of the relayers of 0x. It is a heavy contrast with centralized-based exchanges, in which users need multiple accounts, must setup security protocols like 2FA, as well as proceed with monotonous withdrawal and deposit processes. The 0x Protocol will both empower the user to control their own money, it will also give them simple access to liquidity, regardless of their location.

The on-boarding flow was designed to be used in a series of procedures for research purposes with users on various levels of experience in cryptocurrency. The research exercise that surfaced has many UX pain points inside the 0x onboarding process.

They’ve taken several different experiences from the research sessions to reduce the cognitive overload on the system. You can learn more about the research from Wicketh Ventures who backed the study.

The new plan is to make the system more efficient, creating a better on-boarding flow for user conversions. Portal also gives a base for new education purposes on NFT trading. The 0x Portal will be used to improve the relayer discoverability. A lot of the excellent relayers exist today to continue learning sessions for the new teams coming on board. It’s similar to the same way people who used Yelp to find the ideal restaurant to their needs works. They believe a tool like this is essential for finding the right relayer.
