The EOS mainnet launch has been released on June the 2nd and it will be valid once it is activated. So as to become valid, at least 15% of all issued tokens have to stake a vote. But, it is not so simple to vote and there are over 180 different projects to choose from.

Liquid EOS is an already existing crypto (Bancor) in the market which is currently one of the top 100 according to its market capitalization. Bancor is a company that builds open-source technologies which facilitate fair and automated conversions between blockchain-based tokens.
The company has already partnered with EOS in the past and used its platform. Liquid wants now to produce blocks for the EOS community.
Liquid will be creating a bridge for its network to EOS, fight trade manipulation (a hot topic for regulators in the US), give dApps a mechanism to endow their tokens with automated convertibility to any currency, distribute EOS inflation rewards so as to help communities everywhere, and more.

This is a community building project that arranges meetings every single months. They are strong but they will not be one of the 21 main BPs. EOS New York will be incubating dApp development, investing back into their own network, host community meetups, and collaborate and coordinate with other communities all over the world.
