- Eliminating the issues of access and affordability to financial assets to the world population
Abra has rolled down a new offering for the non-US customers that will allow Bitcoin-centric investing in traditional stocks and Exchange traded funds (ETF).
The global investment app took to Twitter today to announce this new option for customers in more than 150 countries. Through this service, investors can use Bitcoin (BTC) to make “fractional investments” in stock and ETFs that too with zero trading fees.

In response to an enthusiast’s question about the option to short, Abra replied,
“At the moment we aren't offering the ability to short but that is on our roadmap!”
With this new option, Abra is further driving the Bitcoin adoption all over the world. According to Bill Barhydt, the CEO and founder of Abra, non-US people don’t have the opportunity to invest in financial markets. Now, this new feature to such a wide audience will provide them with access to the financial market and invest in stocks and ETFs.
“Abra is addressing this global inequality by allowing more people to have a stake in financial markets. The focus of this launch is to make financial markets of the developed world more accessible and affordable to those in emerging economies,” said Barhydt.
World’s First Global Investment App For Those Traditionally Shut Out
Just like the app allows investors the opportunity to own a portion of cryptocurrency, now users can have a fraction of these stocks and ETFs.
As we mentioned in the Tweet, throughout 2019, trading on stocks and ETFs on the platform is free. The investment platform has more than 50 of these stocks such as Tesla, Uber, Apple, Amazon, and Google among others and ETFs along with index options like S&P 500, Russell 2000 and others.
“We’re thrilled to unveil the world’s first global investment app to those individuals who have been traditionally shut out of investing in financial markets,” said Willie Wang, VP of product at Abra.
“Tens of thousands of investors from around the globe signed up for the wait list to access this revolutionary new product. We’re excited to see which assets are most in demand globally and will continue to add assets as we collect feedback from users.”
In terms of payment mode, the options include credit cards, wire transfer, bank, and cryptocurrencies while offering support of 50 fiat currencies, and 30 crypto assets for which non-custodial wallet option is available.
The app is available on Google Play and Apple Store for download.
