After Massive TRON and Crypto Community Backlash, CEO Awards Tesla Prize to Both Original and Current Winners

By now, most people know about the giveaway that TRON CEO Justin Sun promised to users, giving them a chance to get a brand-new Tesla. The giveaway, known as the “global appreciation campaign,” was worth $20 million, and even went as far as to choose a winner on Twitter. However, he backtracked on the promise, and no car has been deleted.

Realistically, the giveaway got pretty far. Twitter user “Uzgaroth” was awarded the Tesla, and Sun congratulated the user through his personal Twitter page. The post requested the user’s contact information, but Sun covered his tracks by deleting the post.

Luckily, with some foresight about the circumstance, Uzgaroth posted to Twitter with a screenshot of the now-deleted tweet as this circumstance has evolved. However, the post was meant to call out Sun, calling the giveaway a “scam” that is unfortunate that they keep seeing in the crypto community.

The TRON Foundation has largely been seen as a reliable network, but the “dishonest” actions of Sun have been brought to light.

Ever since it was revealed that Sun has basically left the user hanging, Uzgaroth has been very vocal about the fraud that he believes Sun is. He even created a poll on Twitter to ask his followers if they agreed that Sun was a major scammer and has received 10,000 votes at this point. The results will not be made available for hours.

When CCN reached out to Uzgaroth directly, he said that he felt “outraged,” considering that it is assumed at this point that he will not follow through with the promise. He even sent in his contact information to Sun via Twitter, but, at the time of CCN’s article, there had yet to be a reply from him or the TRON Foundation.

Within a day, Uzgaroth said that a new winner had been chosen, and he had not received an apology for the deceit that he experienced. He called the circumstance “a pity,” since it does not look good on Sun to fall short of the expectations of followers. He further added that he feels “insulted and sad.

Since the comments to CCN, it appears that Sun tried to make amends, though they initially fell short as well. Refraining from offering the prize that he was promised, Sun offered Uzgaroth an invitation to the upcoming TRON summit next year, adding that he will cover the cost of the ticket to the event.

Clearly, the value of this consolation prize, if you can call it that, is worth much less than a Tesla.

Like anyone who thought they were getting a car instead, Uzgaroth is less than pleased, but indicated that he would seen Sun on May 25th. Still, as this situation evolved, many crypto enthusiasts and supporters of TRON would not let the matter go.

Ultimately, Sun appears to either have caved or come to his senses, because a post only two hours ago shows that both Uzgaroth and the subsequently chosen LeoHuynPro will both be getting the cars they hoped for.

Uzgaroth appears to be quite pleased with the development, thanking Sun in the comments section for doing the right thing while receiving congratulatory messages from the community.

Perhaps this is just another demonstration of the decentralized nature of TRON, promoting the power of the people over the power of one. However, maybe Sun’s conscience got to him. Whatever the reason, these two winners will be able to mull over the situation from the driver’s seat of their Tesla vehicles.
