Air Force Institute Of Technology (AFIT) Offers New Demo Tool Website To Educate On Blockchain
Blockchain technology has come a long way from Bitcoin. The multiple use cases in the industry today make it possible for this technology to be the true gift that comes from cryptocurrency. However, as with any new technology, there needs to be developers that can stimulate progress. In a new report from Modern Materials Handling magazine, it looks like the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is looking to form the developers of tomorrow.
The graduate school has now launched a new website that is completely free to use. It offers demonstration tools for supply chain management professionals, which helps students learn about the way that blockchain technology can be applied. Right now, the tool is set up to be used as a classroom module, but it is capable of being blended with other lessons. However, the target audience appears to be those that want to get into supply chain management.
The creation of the platform combined support between AFIT, SecureMarketing, and the University of South Dakota’s Beacom School of Business. Even though the research was collected by Air Force members, the structure of the tool makes it possible for any Department of Defense leader that wants to educate themselves about blockchain technology.
According to AFIT, the tool “tracks the entire life cycle of a component,” which means that anyone that uses it can see a simulated lifespan from the creation to final location.
The article continues, explaining,
“This is important because many supply chains now faced a challenge of having used products reintroduced and sold as new by unscrupulous businesses. These used products can lead to costly problems such as unexpected breakdowns of equipment. In some situations, tracking decommissioning could also be useful for ensuring that hazardous materials are properly disposed of, or that reusable components are properly recycled.”
To ensure that there is no confusion, the researchers set up multiple videos to elaborate on important use cases involving blockchain technology. These videos also discuss the way that a platform might use the technology, and how to interact with the demonstration website using the tools.
So far, no additional comments have been published by AFIT in regard to this matter.
