Alex Saunders, aka Nugget, is Latest Cryptocurrency Scam Target in Impersonation Scheme
Who’s The Real Alex Saunders? Please Stand up
Scammers are now impersonating Alex Saunders, popularly known as ‘Nugget’ in Australian cryptocurrency community. Saunders, who runs and manages ‘Nugget’s News’ a YouTube channel has identified a few individuals who have assumed his online identity and attempted to con Australians their hard-earned digital coins. Saunders asserts that he was always told that scammers and haters would appear once he reached a certain level, and he is now alarmed the extent to which they are coming.
Amusingly, the scammers and the impersonators were identified after they sent emails to the channel’s subscriber list, in which Saunders’ email is part of. This is interesting considering that the mail went to the actual owner of the news channel.

Saunders finds this amusing, but he is concerned about his followers and subscribers. He has gone ahead to issue a warning to them to stay cautious of such malicious individuals. For instance, he has assured followers that they will never receive emails from a gmail account.
He continued to say that all of the channel’s official emails will be from @nuggetsnews account. He has, however, cautioned that even such addresses can be copied thus the need to stay alert. Anyone in doubt should always seek clarification from [email protected]
Saunders says that they plan to switch to ‘Mailguard’ an Australian email security platform that will provide a bit of security and solve some of these challenges.
Nugget’s News has grown in popularity since digital currencies took hold in 2017. The channel now has more than 34,000 subscribers. His paid Slack group and Facebook pages are still attracting followers.
