Alleged Crypto Stealer Indicted in Israel After Nearly 75,000 DASH Coins Theft, Worth $9 Million


According to recent reports by News1, Afek Zard has been indicted in Israel after being accused of stealing $9 million in Dash. Dash is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies in the market. Apparently, he stole 74,990.74 Dash coins from his roommate.

Alleged Crypto Stealer Indicted in Israel

The report shows that the stealer was able to get 0.85% of the current Dash supply from another crypto enthusiast. The victim was Alexei Yaromenko, an early crypto investor that accumulated the digital currency back since 2013.

As per the article, Yarmolenko explained what virtual currencies are to Zard and how to trade them on different platforms. After this, the theft took place. The attorney Giora Hazan, Zard could enter to Yaromenko’s apartment when he was not in the residence.

The report explains that the Dash coins were present in Yaromenko’s wallet until March 1. At that time, each Dash was worth $82.5. In order to steal the virtual currencies, the attacker had access to the victim’s computer. Zard has been accused of theft with aggravated circumstances and money laundering activities.

The number of attacks to cryptocurrency wallets and holders is something that commonly happens and that ends up with funds being locked by exchanges or platforms. At the moment, there is no further information about what will happen with these funds.
