AlphaPoint Blockchain Services Adds Former R3 Chief Sales Officer to Its Institutional Sales Team
Scott Grayson was formerly known for his work as a chief sales officer, which was his role with R3. However, considering his resume, he has managed to become a part of a new team with AlphaPoint. A recent announcement shows that Grayson will take on the position of senior vice president for institutional sales.
The work that Grayson does will involve banks, brokerages, exchanges, and other large institutions that are working to tokenize their assets. Those assets can include real estate, private equity, securities, and loans around the world. The negotiations with these companies are presently in progress.
Grayson, when speaking to CoinDesk, said,
“AlphaPoint presented me with an opportunity I found very exciting. They are really helping people make illiquid assets liquid and move the markets.”
When speaking on the difference between his work with R3 and his new work with AlphaPoint, he said the services are “really complementary,” commenting that it is likely that AlphaPoint’s clients could find value in the technology available through R3.
“It’s different in a sense that R3 is a platform and AlphaPoint is an application provider… I envision many of our clients will be utilizing AlphaPoint’s application on top of [R3’s] Corda.”
Even though there does not seem to be a partnership in the works, Grayson expressed his hope for “opportunities in the future” for collaboration. R3 noted that Grayson originally left their company in September.
Prior to Grayson’s work with R3, he worked as a supervisor for a senior sales team with Charles River Development, a software vendor. He has worked with software vendors in the sales department for many years, though one of his earliest jobs was as an equities and options trader, working with both Bankers Trust Company and Bank of America.
AlphaPoint has been working to collect many former and even current executives from traditional finance companies, giving them a well-rounded approach to institutional sales. Salil Donde, for example, became the CEO in 2017, following his departure from Global Information Services as executive vice president. Kapil Rathi joined as the global head of trading markets in November, after working with Cboe as the head of equity options.
AlphaPoint spent their summer last year in a venture funding round, which ultimately brought in $15 million. The round was led by Galaxy Digital, making it possible for the company to launch DCEX, an XRP-based crypto exchange.
