Amid Acquisition of BitTorrent by Tron, Creator Bram Cohem Denies Ever Being Affiliated with TRX
Tron (TRX) has been making waves ever since it came to the crypto market. Reigning as the ninth-largest cryptocurrency, other communities have been turning their heads as well, though the news of the BitTorrent acquisition has clearly been a major point of discussion.
This purchase is one of the biggest that has ever happened in the crypto space, and multiple influencers have spoken positively about it. BitTorrent exceeds all others in their file-sharing, peer-to-peer services, and has multiple use cases. In fact, there were rumors about Tron acquiring BitTorrent long before they made the intentions public.
Some of the rumors around the purchase say that Justin Sun had worked to prevent BitTorrent from seeking out other prospective bidders with a temporary restraining order. Regardless of how they rose to the top of these offers, the Tron Foundation ultimately purchased BitTorrent for $140 million.
Not long after the acquisition, Tron witnessed the departure of five key employees, which caused major damage to Tron. The Foundation had to address the issue, saying that there were many who joined the company as well.
Bram Cohen, the man responsible for creating BitTorrent in the first plan, decided to speak on Tron and Sun on his official Twitter profile. He said,
I'm no longer in any way affiliated with BitTorrent and have never been affiliated with Tron or Justin Sun

He also spoke on how there have been rumors of Sun’s involvement of Chai Network, a project of Cohen's. Subsequently, Cohen clarified that the Foundation and the Sun remain separate from his project, saying that they have not and “never has owned any shares” in the project.
A partner for Placeholder, Chris Burniske, said,
@Tronfoundation’s$TRX is pumping because it will allow people to claim #BitTorrent-coin ($BTT).
Though, per tweets like Bram’s & other whispers,
Tron is just shilling BitTorrent’s brand, while talent bleeds & workability of $BTT is an afterthought.
Simon Morris, the former Chief Strategy Officer of BitTorrent, was also featured in the news recently for his comments that BitTorrent’s transactions are too much for the Tron Network. Sun dismissed this claim, saying that the Tron Network will have no problem with the influx of transactions.
