Augur (REP) Prediction Market Sees $930,000 in Total Bets For Democrats to Win Midterm Elections

Total Bets Amounting to USD $930K on ‘Augur’ Back Democrats to Win Current Midterm Elections

As per statistical data available on Augur, the Ethereum based prediction market, platform users have placed bets amounting to more than $930,000 (and quickly growing) on the question that seems to be on everyone’s mind at the moment “Who will control the House of Representatives after this latest Midterm Election?”

However, if Augur’s core user base is to be believed, the results will strongly sway in favor of the Democratic party (with nearly 61% of the voters betting on this outcome). Similarly, only 36% of the Augur community believes that the Republicans have a chance of sweeping the elections.

Things are Heating Up in Washington

At press time, many exit polls (such as those released by the BBC and Sky News) seem to indicate that the Democratic party has a good 55% to 45% of winning the house this time around.

It is also worth noting that the aforementioned election prediction is one of the biggest in Augur’s nascent history. However, whether the election predictions being reflected on the platform convey the true results of the midterms is a different matter altogether.

Obama and Trump Go at It Hours Before the Election

In the wake of this latest political magnum opus, President Trump and Obama have been going at each other’s throats, with Trump recently saying:

“This election will decide whether we build on this extraordinary prosperity we have created”.

He also likened Democrats as being people with no thinking capacity of their own as well as individuals who would gladly take “a giant wrecking ball to the American economy.”

In reaction to the aforementioned statements, Obama replied by saying:

“You hear those Republicans brag about how good the economy is, where do you think that started? When you vote you can be a check on bad behavior. When you vote you can choose hope over fear.”

Final Take

With all this ongoing political rhetoric, it does not take an Einstein to figure out that the US is currently heavily divided on the basis of one’s political affiliations. The only thing that now remains to be seen is how true Augur’s predictions actually turn out to be.
