Baidu Releases Energy Efficient ‘Super Chain’ Blockchain Mining Protocol
Baidu, a Chinese company that specializes in tech, internet-related services and artificial intelligence, has recently announced a blockchain development that goes by the name, Super Chain. The goal behind this blockchain project is to come up with a protocol that can minimize excessive use of crypto-mining energy.
The details of the project were shared at an event by Baidu blockchain’s, Chief Scientist, Xiao Wei. According to Wei, Super Chain has been designed as a “compatible developer ecosystem of Bitcoin and Ethereum.” Most importantly, its uses “not only can insert and remove consensus mechanisms to solve energy problems, but also supports single-chain support of 100,000 concurrent.”
This isn’t the first for Baidu, as the multinational tech firm has been known for experimenting around with cryptocurrencies, eventually launching its successful, Blockchain-as-a-Service solution.
In addition to announcing the launch of Super Chain, Wei stated that Baidu is currently in the process of switching its services onto blockchain, while already releasing a blockchain project “related to copyright protection”.
This is definitely a great first step for Baidu given the fact that the Chinese government is reconsidering lifting the current ban placed on cryptocurrencies in the country.
