In April 2018, a post on Twitter revealed that a new documentary titled ‘Beyond Bitcoin’ would be joining the lineup at Cannes. This is the first documentary of its kind to be featured at the “European capital of cinema,” and the deal itself is worth seven figures. Slate Entertainment Group has supported the production and release of the film, and they are the creators of the SLATE (SLX) blockchain network. However, the release of ‘Beyond Bitcoin’ is not planned until March 2019.
Bitcoin Isn’t the Main Character
Even though bitcoin is in the title, this documentary is actually about the use and application of the altcoin and anything that is separate from bitcoin. The two main altcoins that the documentary will use to inform consumers are DASH and LISK.
In the feature film, consumers will learn about what is called the “ICO-fever.” However, it also will address how regulators play a major role in the investments and blockchain, and how Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash are separate.
Three Main Crypto Figures Take the Lead
Though this documentary will serve as an informative option for consumers that need to learn their place in crypto, there will also be three individuals that take the lead as well. Those three people are Ryan Radloff, Perianne Boring, and Roger Ver, and the documentary follows them through the course of a year in the life of each one.
Ryan Radloff is a financier in the crypto world and is the CEO of CoinShare UK. His company keeps a record of accomplishment for crypto investments, specifically addressing the fit-for-purpose platforms. Much of the company is made up of the former employees at JP Morgan, State Street, and Lehman Brothers.
Perianne Boring is a blockchain diplomat and an Adjunct Professor that teaches students about blockchain with Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. She is also the President of the Chamber of Digital Commerce, which is located in Washington DC. The entire point of the Chamber is to make blockchain more mainstream for use.
Roger Ver is known as an anarcho-capitalist, and he was one of the first investors to get on board with bitcoin. In his opinion, “Bitcoin is the most important invention in the history of the world since the internet.”
The Crew of ‘Beyond Bitcoin’
British director Jake Witzenfield heads up the documentary, and he is accompanied by Fulwell 73, which is James Corden’s production company. Witzenfield has some experience as a director for one documentary and one episode of a small television program. Fulwell 73 is responsible for bringing ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden,’ ‘One Direction 3D: This is Us,’ and ‘I Am Bolt,’ to life.
The involvement of Fulwell 73 with Slate is a welcomed one. Leo Pearlman, the co-founder of Fulwell 73, has said that, “Binge is the perfect fit for our film and is the natural place for viewers to find and engage with this content.” By introducing Binge, there are multiple tools that have never been brought to the big screen.
