Blockchain Freelancers Required
According to a recent survey created by Upwork, the blockchain technology is one of the fastest growing skills in the United States during the first half of 2018.
The report showed that, in a list with over 5,000 skills, blockchain has topped it for two consecutive quarters. Just like “cloud” skills were in the mid-2000s, blockchain is right now, the report states.
Not Just In The Freelance Market, However
Fortunately for the blockchain experts, not only the freelance market needs them. There is a high demand for blockchain developers from startups and even from large companies like IBM, Microsoft and Google, which dominate the technology sector and intend to create their own blockchain-based networks.
IBM alone has more than 400 blockchain projects right now and over 1,600 employees dealing with this technology, having 150 job opening alone recently. Juniper Research has recently named IBM as the number one blockchain vendor in the market.

Software engineers, on the other hand, get only $105k USD a year on average. Highly concentrated tech hubs pay even better, especially in the Silicon Valley, Boston and New York. The average salary of a developer can reach $158k USD in these places.
Switzerland seems to be paying even better, an average of $120k to $180k USD annual. Engineer consultants working in this market can easily charge between $50 and $100 USD per hour.
Recently, Vitalik Buterin, creator of the Ethereum blockchain, has told the media that he had a job offer from Google. This means that the companies are eyeing these prominent experts and that there is a lot of money to be made from this market right now if one is interested in joining it.
