BigchainDB (Ocean Protocol) & Weeve Join Forces For IoT Data Trading Using AI
Weeve is a blockchain startup that is based out of Berlin, and they recently announced that they would be partnering with BigchainDB/Ocean Protocol on May 22nd, 2018. This partnership is made in effort to venture into the IoT data-trading marketplace. However, to put them ahead in technology, they also employ the help of Artificial Intelligence.
The entire goal of Weeve is to develop an ecosystem that is made for machine-based economy, which is primarily due to the monetization of data that can be entered into the blockchain. On the Weeve Network, truthful data can be exchanged through the blockchain, regardless of the privacy on the marketplace. From there, traders can sell their data as an asset.
By combining the efforts of both Weeve and BigchainDB/Ocean Protocol, both parties have the opportunity to see how they can take advantage of each other’s services and functions. However, this also lets them use various crypto-economic incentives in exploration of the Weeve and Ocean Protocol.
Prof. Dr. Gajek said,
“It is natural to partner with BigchainDB/Ocean Protocol, as the team shares the same vision with Weeve that data has value, but the value needs to be activated. Their expertise in analyzing, processing, and indexing data for AI is a missing technological piece to empower Machine Learning for a fully automated and intelligent Economy of Things that smoothly fits into and extends the architecture of the Weeve Platform. The partnership showcases that Berlin is not only a vibrant place for excellent deep tech R&D, it is also a place for fruitful cross-collaboration, underlining the Berlin Blockchain epicenter as being a cooperative environment.“
The founder of Ocean Protocol, Bruce Pon, commented on how they’ve been working alongside Weeve and discovering how it helps the protocol to reach beyond its former grasp. Additionally, he announced their project that is almost ready to launch – weeveOS. Pon released the following statement:
“One of the core use cases for Ocean Protocol is to enable the sharing and selling of data from IoT devices, exactly the capability that Weeve unlocks. We’ve been working closely with them the past months such that Weeve builds the open-source technology weeveOS, the first IoT-to-Blockchain Operating System with emphasis on secure data attestation and transportation, that fulfills the promise of tokenizing IoT data fleshing out the below Ocean Protocol.” Pon goes on to call this partnership “a natural extension for Ocean Protocol.”
To make the process even smoother, the new technical advisor to Ocean Protocol is Prof. Dr. Gajek.
