Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao Asks His Twitter Followers To Catch Exchange Impostor

Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of one of the biggest crypto exchanges, Binance, asked his Twitter followers to identify an imposter who pretends to be the CEO of the Korean wing of Binance.

On October 25th, the chief executive Tweet that he had received multiple queries about a false webpage purporting to represent Binance South Korea CEO. In the Tweet, he shared pictures of a business card that shows the logo of the fake company, as well as the email ID of its CEO., named Shawn Y. Choi.

A prominent mistake in the business card is that Korea is spelled as “Corea.” Zhao even noted that the color of the fraudulent business card is not similar to the one Binance uses. It seems to be a different shade of purple. The email ID specified in the card also appears to be bogus.

If you try checking the identity of the website mentioned on the card (BinaneCorea.com), the address is revealed to be 170 Nonhyeon-ro Gangnam-gu Seoul. The email ID associated, “[email protected]” is linked to a cafe in Seoul. However, it is highly likely that the information is fake.

Although, neither Zhao nor Binance has confirmed if they are planning to pursue any litigation against the fraudster. Looking at the crudeness of the scam, we can be assured that no mastermind or a high-profile fraudster is running its operation.

In fact, Twitter didn’t miss the opportunity to make fun of the crudeness of the imposter.
