Binance CEO Finds Error In BitTorrent (BTT) Token Airdrop But Affirms Are Users’ Funds Are Safe
Binance is the largest crypto exchange in the world. The success story of the company is pretty incredible, especially when you consider that there are no heavy names from the traditional financial industry behind Binance.
The company went from startup to star very fast, but it looks like Binance still makes its occasional mistakes and we saw some of that today. While testing Fetch.ai, one of the testers of the company actually clicked in the airdrop button without actually meaning to and this has caused some BTT launchpad buyers to receive extra tokens.
Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the CEO of Binance, took to Twitter to explain how the issues happened and what would happen next. In his tweet, he affirmed that the issues were being solved and that only a few people were affected by the issues.
While doing testing for https://t.co/g1XQeddwEq, one tester inadvertently clicked an airdrop button for BTT, giving some BTT launchpad buyers extra BTT tokens. We are resolving the issue now. No other people are affected.

While some could consider this to be a “positive” mistake, it was a mistake indeed and some users received more tokens that they should have. According to the CEO of the exchange, the error came from a single tester and a very small percentage of the users was affected by receiving some tokens that they should not.
Some person asked how it was a problem to receive free tokens, but CZ explained that it was bad because their balances would be wrong. However, he did affirm that all funds were safe, so it was not a big deal that everybody should be concerned about.
Another user affirmed that it “explains how my low bid got filled” to what CZ pointed out that secondary beneficiaries were the reason and that it was a reason for using an exchange.
Tron And Binance
Tron was also featured in the news recently together with Binance, but for other reasons. For instance, the BTT tokens were paired against several tokens recently on the exchange: USD, Paxos and USDC.
Some supporters of the token like Tron’s founder Justin Sun have commented that it was a relevant decision made by Binance which would help the company a lot in making its token more accessible and popular.
Among other decisions, the exchange has recently delisted CLOAK, MOD, SALT, SUB and WINGS, several tokens that were had suspicious of fraud or evidence that the people related to them were in some kind of foul play.
