Bitcoin Adoption Still Has A Long Way To Go When You Look At How ‘Ordinary Folks’ Explain Cryptos
An Attempt By Ordinary Folks To Explain BTC Indicates That It Is Still Quite Young
Naomi Brockwell recently uploaded a video that showcased her futile attempts to explain to the masses what Bitcoin really is, and what it can be used for. Based on her attempt, it is quite clear that there are ways to go before the masses can fully grasp the concept behind cryptocurrencies and their underlying infrastructure.
To be honest, between the bearish regulators, the wild and dramatic price swings, Ethereum forks, sensational hash wars, and 51% attacks, it is very easy for some crypto enthusiasts to become caught up with the happenings in the crypto universe. In addition, it is also very easy for one to forget that there is a whole other population out there that does not know what is happening.
Naomi, of the ‘normies’, in a video uploaded to YouTube, states that she recently came to the realization that not many people outside the crypto universe actually know what is going on. In actuality, not very many normal people are well-versed with Bitcoin.
The Confusion Revolving Around Bitcoin
The reality is that many people across the globe have heard a thing or two about bitcoin. But despite the fact that the crypto is still hovering around the four-thousand-dollar mark, not many for sure know what the crypto is really is. There is still a great deal of misperception that arises whenever people hear the term mentioned.
One of the individuals who participated in this experiment knew for a fact that the cryptocurrency is mined. But the misconception arose in that he did not know how the mining took place. For him, he thought that people mine it by hitting brick walls that can only be found online.
He actually equated the mining process to playing Mario, the childhood video game. He goes on to explain that he was inclined to believe that people got to mine bitcoins by playing Minecraft—yet another popular video game.
Another participant ended up stating that bitcoin could be equated to an IOU as it did not have any promise that could be legitimately fulfilled. According to this participant, it was possible to come across different types of bitcoin. Based on the responses provided by the participants in this experiment, Brockwell had no option but to conclude that many people in the world today are still terribly mixed up about BTC and how it works.
People Are Interested In Learning More
The fact that there is still a lot of confusion in the mainstream world should not come as a surprise to anyone. There are still many individuals in the crypto universe who are yet to complete the learning curves. But the media has been instrumental in helping people learn about cryptocurrencies and bitcoins.
On the other hand, the media has also helped contribute to this confusion by supplying the masses with unclear statements and facts that are clearly incorrect. The media has even gone as far as supplying them with incorrect bitcoin images instead of informing that they are comprised of a string of letters and numbers.
