Bitcoin Asset Manager Casa Reveals New “Military Tech” To Protect Crypto Hardware Wallets
You can always count on Casa, a Bitcoin management startup, to offer its several opportunities to store their Bitcoin more safely. Now, the company has just revealed to Coindesk its newest product: “Faraday bags” for hardware wallets.
This device was inspired in a military technology which was created to protect the user from electromagnetic pulse attacks.
According to the crypto media outlet, these are protective cases which are created with a material that protects them from electronic signals. Why would you use them? Because these signals could be easily used to wipe out your wallet or cause any kind of alteration on your device. Therefore, they are another measure of safety for you.
The CEO of Casa, Jeremy Welch, has affirmed during the interview that the company did it because they simply did not see anyone else providing a similar service to this one. According to them, they just had to find a pro and design this product to be sold in the market.
Welch added that they wanted to create something that could protect the hardware wallet of the user. It had to be protected from natural risks like water, dust and the electronic ones, including electromagnetic pulse blasts, which are a real threat to electronic devices.
Exclusive Members Have Already Received The Product
Casa has affirmed that the Platinum and Diamond Casa members, the ones who pay a hefty membership sum per year, have already received their special cases. People who claim the Gold membership will also be able to get a bag.
The case was manufactured by Silent Pockets, a company of “bug-blocking bag-makers”, as described by Coindesk. According to the reports, you can put two devices inside a case like this one.
It is interesting to notice that this technology was generally mostly only used by the military and police officers so far. However, the rise of the crypto industry has made the people who sell these devices affirm that now they are selling some units to Bitcoin survivalists, too.
Matthew Huber, from eDEC Digital Forensics, is a manufacturer of these devices and he was also interviewed by Coindesk. According to him, these bags are the best defensive technology that you can find at the moment if you are afraid of power surges and explosions or, especially, electromagnetic blasts.
However, Huber was sincere in affirming that there simply a lack of information on how useful these devices would be against electromagnetic pulses because there is simply not a lot of information about them.
Welch affirmed that the employees of the company will continue their research to discover how to protect the clients from these threats better. According to him, they are looking to improve their offering every year so that people keep subscribing to their program, so it always an ongoing effort.
He said that the main goal of the company always was to “rebuilt the internet” by letting people have access to their own nodes and key management and that is what the company will keep doing.
