Bitcoin Cash Supporter Ryan X Charles: “Craig Wright Is Satoshi Nakamoto”
The controversial claim that has been going around on the internet that Dr. Craig S. Wright is actually Satoshi Nakamoto was revived following a tweet from Ryan X. Charles, Money Button founder who’s also working with Yours.org. He went ahead and posted on twitter, saying that “Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto”, something that invoked an immediate response from the social media cryptosphere.
‘Wright Is Satoshi’ Deliberation Resurfaces.
While speaking to Bitsonline, Charles said that his main reason for deciding to post his comment was prompted by the current controversy surrounding a potential split and also hard fork in Bitcoin Cash and especially with Wright being at the heart of the controversy.
“Almost everyone I’ve talked to has poor reasons for believing that Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto. I believe they have let their feelings interfere with their conclusions. They don’t like Craig Wright and they think that because he’s a dick that therefore he cannot be Satoshi Nakamoto. That is illogical. Whether Craig Wright is a dick or not has nothing to do with whether he is Satoshi Nakamoto. I want to lend support to all the people who have logical reasons for believing that Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto who are feeling pressured by the illogical anti-Craig Wright mob,” Charles said.
Charles even went further to claim that testimonies from Jan Matonis, Gavin Andresen and Ian Grigg – longtime bitcoin and cryptography identities- in 2016 had played a major role in convincing him of Wright’s claim to be Satoshi.
“These three people conveyed not only did Craig have the keys, but also they had voluminous unspecified qualitative evidence,” he said.
How the Community Reacted
As expected, Charles did receive probable degree of support and instead got derisive comments in return; with wright responding by saying that the decision of whether Bitcoin has Utility belongs to the community.
As a preferred way of being able to handle micropayments on the cryptocurrency-based social publishing platform Yours.org and others sites, Charles has supported large transactional blocks for both Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.
Satoshi Mystery: Bitcoin’s longstanding Tale
The debate focusing on whether Dr. Wright is Bitcoins creator has risen and faded out since back in 2015, when a PR company mentioned him on a newspaper article and also followed with a campaign.
Although Wright never frenzied appearing on media, acting with lots of reluctance, he never denied the claims. He now says that, it doesn’t matter who Satoshi really is/was and so, Bitcoin needs no leader.
Even so, that has not ceased the community from looking for one especially during the year’s long-scaling debate. This debate resulted in the Blockchain being split back in August 2017 when Bitcoin Cash was created and one which Wright and his employer supported enthusiastically.
Wright has maintained that he doesn’t want attention or even any form of authority in the Bitcoin community. This happened after he blew up a PR session arranged at the mainstream media to ‘prove’ his claim to be Satoshi which back in 2016.
He has however been known to make several prominent and also assertive stances in support of Bitcoin Cash and its intent of being the “peer-to-peer electronic cash system” as described in the whitepaper.
Wright has also appeared to clash with other Bitcoin protocol developers like Bitcoin ABC’s Amaury Sechet while opposing the addition of new OP_RETURN codes to expand BCH’s functionality.
Wright went to say that Bitcoin, in the form of BCH, must stay as close to Satoshi Nakamoto’s original intent as possible. BCH’s most prominent backers including the Bitmain Jihan Wu have reportedly begun getting pestered by some of his statements.
The true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is likely only provable via the spending of BTC (or BCH) from Bitcoin’s Genesis Block — which may not even be possible by an individual.
