Bitcoin Enthusiasts Ask Elon Musk To Accept The Lightning Network Torch

The Lightning Network (LN) torch that started to spread on social media continues to increase its value as it reaches new participants. The first users starting the Lightning Torch was the Twitter user Hodlonaut and it attracted several figures related to the cryptocurrency space.

Indeed, the LN torch was so prosperous that it reached the CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey. This is when several news outlets started to cover this topic. Users on Twitter, including Hodlonaut, are asking Elon Musk to participate as well.

Hodlonaut requested users to tag Elon Musk and get him to pick the torch up.

Elizabeth Stark, who has also received the torch from Dorsey, asked Musk whether it is possible to relay the LN payment to Mars. Elizabeth Stark is the co-founder and developer of the Lightning Labs, one of the companies behind the LN development.

Until now, it seems that Elon Musk didn’t take the torch. However, everything is prepared for him to do it at any moment in the future. At the same time, the positive stance that Dorsey has regarding digital currencies could also be related to the end of the ban on cryptocurrencies on Twitter.

At the same time, Dorsey mentioned that his payment network Square would be incorporating a full crypto wallet in the future. Square started to work with Bitcoin (BTC) when it added support to it on its Cash App. Additionally, he said that he loves the idea of implementing the Lightning Network on Twitter.

Although Bitcoin’s price did not perform well during 2018, the LN had a very genuine growth. The number of nodes increased up to 5,987 with 23,805 channels. Furthermore, the network capacity reached 651 BTC, close to $2.2 million.

The Lightning Network is expected to allow Bitcoin to process hundreds of thousands of payments in just a few seconds and for very low fees. Additionally, it is also possible to process micropayments using the LN. Although it is not ready to be released to the market, the LN is currently being tested by several developers and companies.
