Bitcoin Investors, Here’s a Handful of Things Not Well Known About the United States Dollar (USD)
Every individual in the world will at some point come into contact with fiat currency. But the reality is that many of those who will do will rarely ever marvel at some of the physical attributes associated with physical currency. This is more so when it comes to the United States Dollar bills.
The following are interesting facts about the dollar that you may not have known of before:
100 Dollar Bills, Where Are They?
The only institution in the US that can control the supply of money is the Federal Reserve. However, the most interesting thing is that the biggest bill in the country may soon be exciting.
Did you know that only one out of every three one hundred dollar bills printed is located in the US? Cash registers, banks, and other financial institutions are today only able to account for only a third of all the $100 bills ever printed.
This statistic is by itself odd, especially taking into account that close to all the currency available in the US comes in the form of one hundred dollar bills.
You Need To Have A Spending Strategy When Handling Counterfeit Bills
No one should be surprised to learn that there is a lot of counterfeiting taking place in the US today. The best forgers will usually do all they can to try and make sure that they get to produce the ideal bill.
However, this is not always the case. Emerich Juettnet chose to use a very different approach. This is one individual who had not perfected the art of creating the perfect bill. But the one thing that he was good at was making good use of the bills he already had with him.
For some time, he was able to avoid being caught by the authorities. He was able to evade the secret service for more than ten years by ensuring that he only focused on the one-dollar bill. Additionally, he did not counterfeit more than he thought was necessary.
What is even more interesting is the fact that he only got to serve four months in jail for counterfeiting. The sentence is odd, taking into account that printing fake dollar bills will usually land you in the slammer for more than a year.
After he had served his jail sentence, a movie focusing on his life was made, which helped make him more money than all the efforts he had applied counterfeiting dollar bills.
It Is Easy to Recycle Worn Out Bills
Have you ever wondered what happens to the Dollar bill once it has become old? The US has a solution in place to ensure that all the unusable Dollar bills get recycled. Generally, the material that gets recycled will in many cases be used as roof shingles or fireplace logs. If mass adoption of crypto occurs, or if more people choose to go cashless in the coming years, there will be a lot of bills being recycled by the Federal Reserve.
