Bitmain Bitcoin Mining Center In East Wenatchee, Washington Launches With Over 8,000 Antminers

Bitmain Launches Bitcoin Mining Center In East Wenatchee, Washington

On November 16, Bitmain launched a Bitcoin mining plant in Washington State. The facility is equipped with over 8,000 mining rigs and is consumes 12 MW of power.

Precisely, the Bitmain mining facility is based in East Wenatchee. The official inauguration ceremony was overseen by Jeff Stearns, the director of Bitmain operations in North America. Other luminaries present during the opening were Lisa Parks, the head of the local port, and Evan Wendlandt, a manager at the state department of commerce. Washington.

The entire mining facility cost Bitmain an estimated $20 million. As expected, all of the mining rigs are Antminer S9s, Bitmain’s flagship mining hardware. The facility is expected to create 20 employment opportunities after it starts operations. Its design and construction were done by SCJ Alliance.

According to Jeff Stearns, this facility is the best the company has ever constructed. In fact, several aspects in its design have been patented. The East Wenatchee center has special louvers on its buildings to regulate the excessive heat produced by the mining hardware.

In addition, Bitmain has also launched an electronics repair facility in Malaga, Washington. The center is intended for servicing faulty Antminer devices in the North America region. Before its introduction, miners had to send their devices to China for evaluation and repair. Thus, the imminent opening of this center will save lots of time and money for the local Bitcoin miners.

Why East Wenatchee?

Bitmain started seeking a construction site of the mining facility in July last year. Jeff revealed that they settled on East Wenatchee because of the affordability of electricity in the area. Indeed, mining companies have been setting up in the region due to the availability of cheap power. However, locals are opposed to this development because it ‘stresses' the local power grid. Other factors that influenced Bitmain’s decision include a friendly climate and rarity of natural disasters.

As of now, Bitmain has four operational mining centers in the US. This number could soon grow to five, as Bitmain is planning to launch a new facility in January. Also, Stearns disclosed that this will be followed by an additional 12 centers, bringing the total number to 17.

The increasing use of digital currencies has spurred the development of Bitmain. The company has pending application for an IPO to be conducted in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Moreover, Bitmain is currently developing electronic chips for AI-based solutions.

Bitmain Expects A Bright Future For Cryptos

Stearns is confident that the cryptocurrency market will survive the ongoing bearish trends. This is the reason why the company is continually releasing state-of-the-art mining hardware, with the latest introduction being the Antminer S15.

Lately, Bitmain has been actively involved in the competition between Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV, the opposing sides in the recently concluded Bitcoin Cash hard fork. The CEO of Bitmain, Jihan Wu, supported Bitcoin ABC. Although it seems as if Bitcoin ABC is winning the battle, Bitcoin SV still has its fair share of supporters.
