Bitmain CEO Jihan Wu Appears On Forbes’ 2019 Youngest Billionaires List
The crypto market might not be in its best shape right now but some people who got into the industry early were able to make a fortune there. Between these lucky men is Jihan Wu, the CEO of Bitmain, a large crypto mining manufacturer from China. Recently, he was featured in Forbes’ 2019 list for billionaires under 40 years old.
According to a new post from Forbes, 71 members of its richest people list are under 40. This year the list has seen 21 newcomers from 18 different countries. More than half of them are “self-made”, meaning that they did not acquire their fortune (or at least the bulk of it) via their parents.
The most interesting newcomer for us is obviously Jihan Wu, though. With his mining company Bitmain, he was one of the people in the crypto world that managed to surf in the crypto craze of 2017 and grew up without being afraid to fall, which did not happen to him despite many crypto entrepreneurs finding a bad ending for them last year.
When you consider how his company suffered last year after the prices of Bitcoin started to fall, it is quite the feat to still have landed on his feet and be the richest crypto billionaire in the world today.
Wu is 33 years old and he was chosen to be along with several other newcomers like Kylie Jenner, 21 (the youngest in the list), Alexandra Andressen, 22, John Collison, 28, and others.
The CEO of Binance is not alone, though. The CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, 36, is also featured on the list this year. While Wu has a net worth of around 1.5 billion USD, Armstrong is only slightly behind with 1.3 billion USD on his pockets. Chris Larsen from Ripple has also appeared on the list. He saw his fortune decline from $2.1 billion to only $1.9 billion USD, though.
Another important person to appear on Forbes 400 is Micree Zhan, another Bitcoin CEO. His fortune is valued in $2.7 billion USD, but he has turned 40 this year, so he did not make the list of people under 40 this year, unfortunately. Even Jihan Wu’s fortune pales in comparison to him, though, as he has almost the double amount of money.
Outside of the crypto world, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO, and creator of Facebook is on the lead, which surprises no one ever. Zuckerberg, 34, has a fortune of around $62.3 billion USD, which is simply an insane amount of money.
