Bitmain Crypto Mining Wi-Fi Routers: AntRouter R3-DASH and AntRouter R3-SIA
Bitmain Offers Wi-Fi Routers Which Are Also Cryptocurrency Miners
Do you like the idea of mining cryptocurrencies at the same time that you browse the web? If you ever did, you may be interested in what Bitmain has to offer right now. The Chinese giant of crypto mining has invented a new product, wi-fi routers that are able to cryptocurrencies for you while you use the internet.
After the recent announcement that Canaan, the second largest manufacturer of mining equipment in the world, already has plans to sell a TV set that is able of being a cryptocurrency miner at the same time, Bitmain just had to do its part and release a similar product to compete with Canaan. Instead of a television, Bitmain has decided to use wi-fi routers as miners.
While the capabilities of this miner are obviously limited and professional miners would probably not be interested in it, amateur miners and crypto enthusiasts might like the idea more. Bitmain has announced via its social media channels that two models of wi-fi routers will be launched together.
One of the models is the Antrouter R3-DASH and the other one is the Antrouter R3-SIA. They are designed to mine Dash and Siacoin (SC), respectively, and have very similar capabilities and are modeled over the Bitmain R3 series of products.
You can buy these new products with Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The first batch has a discount and will cost only $58 USD a piece. The company promises to ship ordered machines within a total of 10 working days after the payment is completed and accepted.
How Will These New Wi-Fi Routers Crypto Miner Work?
As soon as you connect the devices to the internet, they will start mining immediately. They will be mining via Bitmain’s Antpool and all the users will have personal Bitmain accounts created for them so they can check how much they have mined so far and withdraw the money.
According to information taken from the product page, the Antrouter R3-DASH was tested and designed to mine only Dash. However, Bitmain has stated that other x11 coins can be minted if the owner of the product wishes but the performance of the mining is not guaranteed. The hash rate of the devices is 300M/s ± 5% and consumes 24.37W of electricity.
R3-SIA was also designed and tested to mine Siacoin, but can be used to mine other tokens that use the blake2b protocol. Again, you should not expect the efficiency of the product to be the name if you decide to mine other tokens. The R3-SIA model has a hash rate of 11.54G/s ± 5% and 22.6W of energy consumption. Both devices weigh 0.6kg.
Bitmain is a Chinese company that is widely considered to be the largest crypto mining company in the world and it has a value of $14 billion USD with a reported profit of $1.1 billion USD in a single quarter this year (Q1).
