BitMEX CEO Stands Up for Bitcoin Against Nouriel Roubini Who Will Face Off At 2019 Asia Blockchain Summit
- Upcoming Cryptocurrency Duel will feature debate between Nouriel Roubini and Arthur Hayes.
- In upcoming charity luncheon, TRON CEO plans to try and convert Warren Buffett into crypto believer.
A debate is coming up that the world will not want to miss. It is not a presidential debate or a meeting between nations, but a battle that is being called the Cryptocurrency Duel. This alleged duel is an event that is planned to take place at the 2019 Asia Blockchain Summit in Taipei, schedule on July 3rd. Many organizers are calling this event the “biggest in cryptocurrency history.”
BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes is already prepared to get involved, showing that he is planning to stand up on the side of Bitcoin against Nouriel Roubini, one of the biggest critics of the market. This event is much like the conversation that arose between Tone Vays and Roubini, as the latter decided to shout his opponent down as he provided supportive arguments for cryptocurrency.
It does not look like Hayes plans to back down at this event. As he posted to Twitter, Hayes plans to “wipe the floor with that chump.” However, it appears that the tweet has since been deleted, despite only being published 10 hours ago. Perhaps Hayes is regretting his statement?
Roubini is well known in the industry for his constant opposition of Bitcoin. He has earned the name “Dr. Doom” for his negative stance and has even expressed that he does not even see cryptocurrency having a real future in the economy going forward.
In his most recent tirade, Dr. Doom went after stablecoins, saying that the name alone is “an oxymoron,” claiming that these assets aren’t fully backed like they claim, and are incredibly “unstable.” He even alleged that the stablecoins will ultimately collapse in the long run.
Stablecoin is an oxymoron as most of them are unstable and not fully backed. They are like fixed rate regimes or currency boards that eventually collapse…. https://t.co/3YgsHE80tT

When Bitcoin saw its price drop suddenly in November 2018, Roubini even said that this was a sign that Bitcoin would see itself dwindle down to nothing. Since then, is must be difficult for Roubini to watch Bitcoin rise back up and succeed, though there is no way that he would admit that this progress is success at all.
This debate is planned for a few weeks before a charity auction launch event that Warren Buffett, another major opponent of cryptocurrency, will be hosting. The Berkshire Hathaway CEO will be spending this lunch with some of the biggest names in crypto figures, like Charlie Lee and Justin Sun, the latter of which won the lunch for $4.5 million.
Speaking with the media about his plan during the lunch, Sun stated:
“It might be unrealistic in just three hours to convince Warren Buffett to buy cryptocurrencies… We just want to show him the recent progress of… cryptocurrency and… blockchain technology.”
