BitTorrent is Launching on Tron in Q2 & a “Partnership” with a Tech Giant Coming, Per Justin Sun
- “Partnership” with a tech giant to be revealed in the Consensus 2019 event
- Meanwhile, Tron co-founder and CTO quits, Tron Foundations says he was just a technical leader & been charged for fraud
Tron founder and BitTorrent CEO Justin Sun took to Twitter to announce the arrival of BitTorrent on the Tron blockchain by June, this year.
#BitTorrent is launching on #TRON in Q2. Glad to also announce another tech giant with hundreds of millions of users will be enabling #TRON ecosys in Q2 as well. Guess who? To be revealed soon on #Consensus2019

The popular peer-to-peer file sharing platform has been acquired by Sun last year in June. Earlier this year, its token BTT got sold like hot pancakes on Binance Launchpad.
On the weekend, BitTorrent Foundation also announced the completion of fourth BTT airdrop for Tron (TRX) holders. Now, the next airdrop will be coming on June 11.
Just recently, Sun had also shared his big plans for both TRX and BTT when he said TRX will move back in the top 10 while BTT will make it way in the top 30 cryptocurrencies by June itself, which coincides with BitTorrent’s launch on Tron network. This might be the masterstroke that Sun has been expecting to drive both the cryptos up in the ranks.
However, it’s not all. Sun also teased about a “partnership” with a tech giant with “hundreds of millions of users” that will enable Tron ecosystem by June as well. The announcement regarding this will be made during the Consensus 2019 event. However, given Tron’s track record with “partnerships,” it’s hard to say if it will be really fruitful or not.
But one thing is clear, Sun is ready to deliver on his statement of climbing up the ranks as quarter 2 seems to be pumping up for big developments.
Trouble In The Paradise
On one side, Tron and BitTorrent developments are going at a rapid pace while on the other side, a prominent executive has left the project.
Tron co-founder and CTO Lucien Chen recently announced that he is quitting from his position, because of the extreme difference in the points of view with Sun. Chen believes because of 27 Super Representatives, Tron is becoming centralized.
“In the DPoS and Super Representative node, there is a problem of centralized voting. Some nodes have more than 90% of the votes with only a few voters. Therefore, the vote of ordinary retail investors has completely fallen.”
He further said the vision shown by Sun to him have been “ruined” and now he has decided to part ways and start the Volume Network (VOL) project.
In response, TRX subreddit moderator shared the response of Tron Foundation which states Chen actually joined Tron as a technical leader and not as a co-founder.
“According to the inspection department of TRON, former employees Z. Chen, J. Zhu, and X. Xie are suspected of misappropriation of funds, bribery, competitive infringement, and theft of trade secrets and intellectual property. Chen, Zhu, and Xie were dismissed in January 2019, for violation of corporate policies and the law. Relevant documents and materials have been handed over to the judiciary.”
However, the community is not happy, questioning why they haven’t been updated about this “significant” piece of information before now.
