Blockchain As A Reality Of Everything As Colleges Open Distributed Ledger Technology Classes
Is Blockchain The Reality of Everything
Whenever one is talking about business and the internet, two buzz words that find its way though are blockchain and Bitcoin. Experts in varied fields from Technology to Finance have theorized that when the future arrives, blockchain will be the cornerstone for that next revolution.
The micro transistor has taken us as far as possible, now to further automate multiple tasks we need a new perspective for a new technology to look at things with a new lens at the reality of everything.
There is little doubt today that blockchain has affected technology and finance in a big way. General banking, healthcare and everything else will follow suit. There are diehard fans of blockchain who hope that it will help solve everything from cancer to poverty.
Unfortunately the answer to everything is not as simple as forty two. To truly understand and maximize the potential of this technology, it needs people to study it. Only recently, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology )College, the gold standard in cutting edge technology studies has started to offer courses on this topic.
Following its lead both Colombia and Stanford University have opened up a blockchain research center. In fact this summer has been a spring for blockchain related courses on the eastern seaboard of the US. Montclair State University, Miami University in Ohio, the university of Pennsylvania are all looking to have in their alumni list the next Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.
In a recent interview to CNBC, Professor Kevin Werbach of the Pennsylvania University discussed this and noted
“There is rapidly growing student interest. They’re seeing opportunities with companies that want students to work in this area, which include both blockchain focused start-ups as well as major companies. Wharton [School of the University of Pennsylvania] sends people to all the Fortune 500 companies, and investment banks and technology firms. A very high percentage of those leading firms now have blockchain or distributed ledger projects, and they’re looking for expertise in that area.”
Therefore jobs are not a problem as more and more businesses are entering this field, demand for people will only go up, in the near future. So, should one look for the nearest university offering a course sign up and get ready to start working for the career of the next generation.
Tarry a little, the real challenge at the moment is for the professors and instructors who have to teach these subjects. For almost a decade, blockchain and bitcoin were thought to be synonyms for most expect the most dedicated tech savvy. The last few years has changed that and today a lot of tech enthusiasts are following this.
There is a real hope that these people will provide the bedrock for a vibrant community of students who will galvanize the next technological revolution.
