Blockchain Announces Launch of Institutional Platform Called Blockchain Principal Strategies
Blockchain (Blockchain.com) just launched a platform catering to institutional cryptocurrency investors. The platform, called Blockchain Principal Strategies or BPS, provides institutions, family investors, and individual investors with “unparalleled and tailored access to markets, research, and services on the most trusted digital asset platform worldwide,” according to a press release from June 28.

“With the launch of BPS,” Blockchain continues, “We’ll harness our unmatched track record in securing, managing, and evaluating digital assets to offer investors an opportunity to gain exposure to the growing digital asset ecosystem.”
The exchange is currently in the early stages of launch. Signups do not appear to be available at this time. However, users can register their interest by entering their name and email address.
Blockchain is one of the world’s leading blockchain technology companies. Founded in 2011, Blockchain has served over 25 million users and processes billions in monthly trading volume. Now, the company seeks to use its 40 years of industry experience to cater to the institutional crowd.
Some of the key features of Blockchain Principal Strategies include over the counter (OTC) trading desks. Obviously, most institutional trading platforms have an OTC desk, but here’s what makes Blockchain’s different:
“Through BPS, investors have access to an over-the-counter (OTC) trading desk which offers a white-glove trading service led by a world-class team hailing from Cooley, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and UBS. The OTC desk also operates as a best-in-class matchmaker and direct counterparty to clients, executing trades and managing associated risk.”
While other exchanges seek to launch institutional platforms, Blockchain is seeking to differentiate itself with its strong reputation and extensive industry experience.
“Our long standing position in the market and technical expertise allows for trading across major currencies and digital asset pairs,” explains the official website, “powered by a sophisticated smart Order Management System (OMS) that combines liquidity from across the market to ensure best execution.”
Blockchain will introduce institutional products and services “throughout the summer”. In addition to an OTC desk, other key features include educational and networking opportunities within the community.
Blockchain is a Luxembourg-registered company that aims to make it easy to send, receive, store, and trade digital currencies. The platform has 25 million wallets hosted on its network. It’s also known for its block explorer, which was the first block explorer introduced to the bitcoin community.
