Blockchain Project Diana Launches a Lunar Registry in Attempt to Tokenize the Moon
Diana is supposedly in the works of launching the “lunar registry” reports Coin Desk. The reason for such a rather interesting yet innovative project stems from the fact that the moon carries an array of minerals that many have been eyeing on reveals the blockchain startup. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to grab onto a piece of the moon, the team plans to create a tokenization system.
As per the claims made, the aim behind the lunar registry is to place the lunar surface on a distributed ledger, in which traders are offered fractions of ownership of the Earth’s natural satellite reports the news outlet. More details have been disclosed on their official website!
According to a video available on the Diana official website, the startup will be working in figuring out a way to ensure collective ownership of the moon is possible. This is supposedly done by using blockchain’s distributed ledger to decentralize said ownership by creating an extraterrestrial cadastral map – deemed a first of its kind – and a 3-word address system.
With the help of the latter two systems in place, the Diana team were able to take the moon – with a total surface of 37.93 trillion squared meters – and divide it into cells of 10,000 square meters, which comes out to roughly, 3.8 billion cells. The main token used for transactions will be Diana’s DIA token, were 1 DIA is equivalent to 1 USD.
In an attempt to encourage traders into investing, the team shared that registration costs will increase as the number of tokens are sold. This is an advantage for traders involved, as their token values will increase, while ridding the market of volatility and uncertainty.
As for the total supply made available, only 50% is made out to the public, while 2% will be saved for members of the Diana team.
Moving forward, the team plans to establish a foundation called, “Together Moon Foundation,” which will contribute towards the main goal of ensuring that everyone has the ability to have a piece of the moon – even if it is the smallest fraction!
