Blockstream’s Samson Mow and Monero’s Leader Talk About Tron’s Controversies in the Space
Justin Sun, the CEO and Founder of Tron (TRX), has been involved in different controversies over the past years. During the last episode of Magical Crypto Friends, Riccardo Spagni, Charlie Lee, Whale Panda and Samson Mow, talked about Justin Sun and how he promoted and developed the Tron Network.
Justin Sun Criticized By Crypto Figures
One of the things that affected Justin Sun’s credibility a few weeks ago is related to a giveaway promoted by the Tron Foundation and Sun himself. In order to celebrate that the stablecoin Tether (USDT) is going to be based on the Tron Network, Sun decided to make a giveaway of a Tesla.
In order to select the winner, Justin Sun decided to start a video with the community that was cancelled later. During this video, a winner was chosen and announced. However, this participant did not receive any prize and another one was chosen by Justin Sun. Nonetheless, Sun decided to give a Tesla also to the first winner after receiving a lot of negative comments from the whole crypto community.
At the same time, Spagni commented about Justin Sun’s keynote at Consensus 2019. He mentioned that he believed it was an April Fool’s Day joke and that it was very sad to see this performance. Riccardo Spagni is the lead developer of Monero (XMR), the largest privacy-focused virtual currency in the market.
Furthermore, Samson Mow, the CSO of Blockstream, said that Mr. Sun should probably “apologize” for plagiarizing his content at the conference. It is worth mentioning that Tron was accused of plagiarizing its white paper after copying information from other projects.
Charlie Lee, the founder of Litecoin (LTC), has also shared a situation that he experienced during the Token 2049 conference. About it, he mentioned:
“I approached the Tron booth and I asked her […] tell me more about Tron. And then she was like, ‘you’ve never heard of Tron it’s a number 10 cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap. I0m like no I’ve only heard of the top five and asked if she knew what the number 4 coin was and she was like, ‘I don’t know what the number 4 coin is but Tron is number 10.’”
At the time of writing this article, Tron is the 11th largest digital asset. Each TRX can be purchased for $0.026 and it has a market capitalisation of $1.77 billion.
