Bosch Ready To Use Blockchain Tech At Car-Charging Stations For Electric Cars

The multinational engineering and electronics manufacturer Bosch will be using the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain at car-charging stations. Although this is just a project and a testing phase, the company is also partnering with EnBW to test these blockchain charging stations for electric vehicles.

A Bosch official explained that the idea is to streamline and tailor the entire process to the needs that customers have. In this way, they would be able to select, reserve and pay for recharging service as they see fit.

The Ethereum platform provides the necessary flexibility for such projects to be powered. At the same time, the Innogy Innovation Hub is using the Ethereum blockchain after deploying 1,000 electric charging stations in Germany.

In a recent press release, the company explained that they are taking an active role in defending the openness of the Internet of Things (IoT) against censorship. Bosch explained that the technology is an essential part of the future for both IoT and the Economy of Things.

The firm is also concerned about the impact of censorship and the retrograde reactions that several governments have been implementing over the last few years. Dr.Michael Boelle, a board of management member and CDO/CTO, explained:

“We cannot accept a situation in which the overwhelming reaction to digital innovations is mistrust and fear. For this reason, the aim of the Digital Trust Forum is to initiate open dialogue among experts to discuss the trust-related issues raised by the internet.”

According to the CEO of the company, Dr. Volkmar Denner, mentioned that it is important to have platforms and internet that allow users to decide for themselves.

There are several companies that are already working with blockchain technology but there are several governments and jurisdictions that are making it complicated for firms to operate with this technology and digital assets.
