Brad Sherman Gets Critical On Zuck Bucks, Says Libra is Akin To Sending Friend Requests To Terrorists
- The Libra whitepaper was recently released in June.
- Congressman Brad Sherman states that Libra puts the United States at risk, based on the relationship with terrorists.
Facebook is a social media platform that is centered around making friends and connecting with people. The platform has had plenty of controversy over the years, but it looks like Mark Zuckerberg is surrounding himself with the wrong people. According to a combative tweet yesterday, Brad Sherman alleged that the CEO of Facebook purposely attempting to sneak around anti-money laundering laws.
With his new “Zuck Buck” #cryptocurrency, Zuckerberg is trying to defeat our anti-money laundering laws. @facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is sending a Friend Request to Oligarchs, Drug Dealers, Human Traffickers, and Terrorists. pic.twitter.com/wU4CuYmO1p

With this tweet, Sherman included a fake screenshot of Facebook, presenting Libra as “Zuck Buck” and depicting a friend request from Zuckerberg to Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzma. Underneath the “screenshot,” the other friends listed for Zuckerberg include Hamas (a Palestinian group that the US and EU consider to be a terrorist organization), Kim Jong Un (the leader of North Korea), Vladimir Putin (the president of Russia), and Jeffrey Epstein (a registered sex offender).
Sherman is clear about his opinions of Facebook getting involved with cryptocurrency, taking on David Marcus at a recent hearing about Libra in Congress. Marcus is presently the CEO of the Calibra crypto wallet by Facebook.
The congressman stated that Libra was going to be “the biggest thing this committee will deal with this decade,” and even rebuked the idea that there’s any difference between Facebook and Libra. Sherman went on, demanding that Zuckerberg show up to discuss the matter with lawmakers, adding that Libra could even end up putting the United States in greater danger than the events of September 11th.
Continuing, Sherman said,
“If cryptocurrency is used to finance the next horrific terrorist attack, 100 lawyers standing in a row, charging $200,000 an hour, are not going to protect his Zuckerberg’s rear end from the wrath of the American people.”
