C-CEX is a cryptocurrency exchange found online at C-CEX.com. The exchange offers bitcoin and altcoin trading in over 185 cryptocurrencies. Here’s our review.
What Is C-CEX?
C-CEX is a cryptocurrency exchange that supports over 260,000 members and 185 cryptocurrencies. The exchange also offers a merchant solution, API support, fiat trading, and more.
As of August 2017, C-CEX is sitting in 50th to 60th spot in terms of 24 hour trading volume, according to CoinMarketCap.com data.
The exchange has particularly high volume in uncommon currency pairs. At the time of writing, the highest volume pairs included EB3 coin, MCAP, and AppleCoin pairs over BTC, which together accounted for about 80% of volume on the exchange.
The exchange is active in over 180 currency pairs, including some pairs that have less than $2 USD in volume over a 24 hour period. If you want to trade obscure altcoins, then C-CEX can help you do that.
Be careful not to confuse C-CEX with CEX.io. CEX.io offers much higher volume and typically sits in the top 30 spots in terms of overall trading volume. It’s also a more popular exchange for traditional cryptocurrency pairs like Ethereum and Bitcoin over fiats like USD, EUR, and RUB.
C-CEX advertises all of the following features:
Like most exchanges, C-CEX claims to put a big emphasis on security. C-CEX supports two factor authentication (2FA).
C-CEX’s system is built from the ground up with performance in mind and delivers ultra-fast response and order matching times, which ensures you never have to wait when submitting orders.
C-CEX claims to have a fully responsive design that works best on mobile and desktop browsers.
Trades have a 0.2% fee. Deposits, withdrawals, and access to additional services are free of charge unless specifically noted.
C-CEX allows users to access almost all functionality through their API, which means you can build high-frequency automated trading systems through the platform.
C-CEX has a chatbox and claims to have over 260,000 members.
Ultimately, all of the above features are advertised by almost all bitcoin exchanges. Yes, a cryptocurrency exchange should emphasize security, low fees, and responsive design.
The real best part of C-CEX comes from its high volume in unique currency pairs. At the time of writing, the exchange’s highest volume pairs included EB3 Coin, MCAP, Ethereum, AppleCoin, E-coin, Virta Unique Coin, and Pabyosi Coin, all of which were available for purchase with Bitcoin.
In total, C-CEX lists 189 different cryptocurrencies on its market, ranging from large cap currencies to virtually unheard-of currencies.
C-CEX charges a 0.2% fee on trades.
Deposits and withdrawals are available via cryptocurrency, which is why they’re free of charge.
Is C-CEX A Scam?
C-CEX has been around the bitcoin community since 2015. Over the years, however, the exchange has received criticism for certain security issues. In March 2017, The Merkle even issued a “bitcoin scam site warning” for C-CEX, saying that “some people are growing concerned over the business practices exhibited by the C-CEX exchange.”
The Merkle cited accusations on the Bitcoin Talk forums dating back to July 2015, when users claimed C-CEX “was a scam for hosting their own ICOs in an attempt to defraud users and investors.”
The idea is that some cryptocurrencies and ICOs are so unknown that some exchanges simply invent altcoins, then profit from trading activity involving those altcoins.
In any case, C-CEX continues to operate online today and maintains strong daily trading volume. It’s currently sitting in the #59 position in terms of 24 hour trading volume, with a total volume of around $2 million in the last 24 hours.
C-CEX is a cryptocurrency exchange best known for its altcoin trading. The exchange features over 180 different cryptocurrencies, and specializes in featuring coins you won’t find on other high-volume exchanges. Today, the exchange sits around the top 50 or top 60 exchanges in terms of 24 hour trading volume.
In the past, C-CEX has faced some criticism from users for possibly being connected to ICOs and altcoins. However, the exchange appears to function normally today and has survived in the bitcoin community for 2+ years.
The exchange also offers competitive pricing: trades are assessed a 0.2% fee, and deposits and withdrawals are free (via cryptocurrency).
