Canaan Avalon 841: SHA-256 Bitcoin Miner With 13+ Terahash?

There is a boom in the ASIC miner industry with the market becoming increasingly competitive. This reverberation in the industry is due to the advantages it offers in power consumption by giving a better Hash Rate to energy consumed ratio when compared to general-purpose GPUs. The gaming industry has been complaining about the increased price and shortage of supply for GPUs and ASIC market solves this problem.

The Avalon 841 is an 8th generation SHA-256 miner. It is powered by 104 A3210HP 16nm ASICs, the 841 delivers a minimum hashrate of 13+ Terahash at a nominal 1290 Watts. Designed, built and tested to last, the 841 comes with a 2-year limited warranty. Cooling is provided by 1 fan operating at a maximum 6000 RPM. Their unique Airforming heatsink reduces the need for multiple fans.

For maximum usage, you may connect the Avalon Miner Controller to 4 AUC3 devices which may each connect to 5 Avalon Miners for a total simultaneous management of 20 Avalon Miner 841 to reach 2260 TH/s.

The product is not as efficient as Bitmain’s S9 but at a cost of $1,625, it comes at a more reasonable price. Earlier models of Avalons have had complaints about excessive noise which this model has addressed.

The Avalon 841 is currently shipping and arriving at customers. Canaan.io is taking pre-orders for March, April, and May.
