CAV, or Crypto Asset Visualizer, is an augmented reality app that lets you see your cryptocurrency assets right in front of you. Here’s our review.
What Is CAV?
Crypto Asset Visualizer is an ARCore-developed environment that promises to be “the most intuitive way to see your cryptocurrency portfolio with AR.”
Basically, with CAV, you step into an augmented reality environment where your crypto assets appear directly in front of you.
You can see a floating pie chart of your cryptocurrency assets, for example. Another neat feature is the ability to see your cryptocurrency assets represented in USD.
It’s all available through an Android app and ARCore.
How Does CAV Work?
CAV’s developers built the AR environment by C# in Unity as an Android App. They use ARCore by Google to capture the real surface, then put AR money on that surface.
One of the best ways to understand how CAV works is to watch the video of the platform in action.
In the video, you can see someone using CAV in a real physical environment. A pie chart breakdown of your digital assets appears on the surface in front of you. You can see how much BTC, LTC, XRP, and other currencies you own as a percentage of your portfolio.
Then, you can see your cryptocurrency portfolio in the form of stacks of USD bills. The bills appear on the surface in front of you.
Ultimately, it’s hard to visualize your cryptocurrency portfolio in “real” terms. If you have 12 LTC, 4 BTC, and 62 ETH, then how much money do you have? CAV answers that question in a unique, AR-based way.
Who’s Behind CAV?
CAV was created by Hiroyuki Ishiwata and Hiroyuki Gohara.
The project was submitted to TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2017. It appeared online on DevPost.com in mid-September 2017.
How To Download CAV
CAV has not yet been released publicly online.
Check the developer’s DevPost page for future updates on the app. It may be available for free from the Google Play Store in the near future.
