Centrality is a venture studio, which partners with leading innovators in various industries to create a marketplace of applications. These applications allow consumers to manage their daily tasks and experiences via peer-to-peer transactions. All of this is possible via just one login and with the aid of the blockchain.
The company happens to be one of the leading blockchain venture studios globally. It is made up of a team of 75 people located in Auckland, Melbourne, Singapore, and London. A global network of investors who understand their vision backs their activities. The company has the vision to assist the world transition to the blockchain.
Can those Outside Auckland Take Part in the Program?
This program is open to anyone from around the world. However, the team would prefer it, if you were based in Auckland. That does not mean anyone is going to be turned away. Request for those from abroad will be processed on a case-by-case basis. If you feel that you have something to bring to the table, do not be afraid to contact the Centrality team. The team would encourage those based in New Zealand to apply, but those from abroad will be considered as well.
Why will Centrality take 20 Percent Equity?
Unlike other incubators and accelerators, Centrality Venture is not here to help you pitch an idea to investors. Rather, they are the investors. This is the reason they offer such a huge portion of seed investment instead of pre-seed funding. The goal is to ensure that you can develop a business idea with the view of integrating it with the extensive Centrality ecosystem.
Will You Retain Control of the Business if you sell a 20% Stake?
The common narrative in the startup space is that equity investment often distracts a venture from its original mission. Besides that, the narrative says the venture capitalists wrestle control of the vision from the founder. While this narrative may have some basis in reality, the Centrality Ventures is not your normal VC.
This company has an interest in the success of your business. They also have no interest in telling you how you will run the business or the decisions you make about the business. The founders are so focused on building their business; they have no time to direct you on how you will run yours.
Can You Negotiate a different Deal
All residents of the Centrality Ventures CENNZ project are going to get a similar deal. They are going to be offered NZD 100,000 in ETH in exchange for 20% of the equity. However, if there are mature companies out there that do not necessarily require funding, they are open to partnerships. In short, Centrality is open to all ideas. Therefore, you should not shy away from applying if you do not meet some of their criteria.
