A Change.org Petition Seeks To Compel Amazon To Start Accepting Dogecoin
The Change.org petition website has seen numerous petitions filed by the public as a way of raising concerns over legitimate issues that they believe. Most people post petitions on this website to not only raise awareness of a specific matter but also seek ways to address that problem.
A recent notable request was created on Change.org to compel Amazon to start accepting cryptocurrencies as a payment method, specifically Dogecoin. Currently, the petition by Mark E. has received over 10,800 signatures and its well on its way to reaching its 15,000 signatures goal.
Amazon current doesn’t allow the use of crypto coins as a payment method on its e-commerce site. The creator of the petition, Mark E., believes that failing to accept cryptocurrencies is alienating many people across the world, specifically those with limited or zero access to conventional finance accounts.
He added that since Amazon was one of the leaders of innovation, it should be on the frontline in accepting cryptocurrencies.
Why Should Amazon Support Dogecoin Payments?
In his petition, Mark E notes that the reason Dogecoin should be supported as a viable payment method on Amazon was the fact that this crypto coin had a massive potential due to its exceptional characteristics of huge coin supply, stable value, speed and minimal transaction fees.
Also, Mark argues that Dogecoin is not as volatile as Litecoin or Bitcoin; hence there is no risk of massive price changes. Most importantly, the coin continues to see a significant price rise of 120% over the last one week. Many entrepreneurs, small businesses, and charity organizations are already using Dogecoin in their daily activities and are not hoarding it like Bitcoin.
Dogecoin was launched in 2013 by Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus as P2P and open-source cryptocurrency. It is popularly known by its mascot, the Shiba Inu dog, which was popularized through online memes.
The interesting fact about this digital asset is that it was initially designed as a mere joke. Nevertheless, Dogecoin has since created a massive following with a market capitalization of over 600 million dollars.
Crypto Petitions on Change.org
As more people discover cryptocurrencies and their implications and benefits, the crypto-related petitions on Change.org have also increased considerably.
In April, there was a new petition created to get CoinMarketCap to display the current BTC supply accurately. The other notable example was when users of the Ripple currency used the platform to try and get Coinbase to add XRP support.
While Coinbase has not yet obliged to that request, these petitions on Change.org that are related to crypto coins could eventually be the foundation for massive changes within the cryptocurrency world.
