Chinese Food and Drug Administrator to Use Blockchain for Ensuring Product Traceability and Quality
China may have banned some crypto activity in the country, but the Chinese government is far from being a blockchain hater. In fact, the government often uses the blockchain technology in order to get better results.
Now, the Food and Drug Administration of the Chinese Chongqing Yuzhong District is using the blockchain technology, according to the Chinese Communist Party’s official newspaper, in order to verify the quality of the products and ensure their quality.
According to the official reports, the blockchain tech will be used to make the supervision of food and drug quality better and to increase how traceable these products can be. With the blockchain, they can be fully tracked during the whole supply chain.
The company that will develop the technology is PrimeNumber Chain Technology. Its CEO, Deng Ke, has affirmed that the system will improve the regulatory measures of the government and the efficiency of the supervision.
Ke also affirmed that the blockchain system could be used in a centralized way, too, despite its decentralized roots. According to him, the traceability system would provide a centralized solution for the management of the information about these products.
The Blockchain Technology In China
The blockchain technology is booming in China. The official stance of the country is to be pro-blockchain but against turning the technology into something speculative, which is part of why China is so against Bitcoin, which is widely used in speculative markets.
Recently, the Cyberspace Administration of China has defined new rules for operating in the country, which is making its moves to create and regulate its blockchain space. The China Banking Association, which takes care of the banking sector, is also looking forward to launching a blockchain-based platform that aims to make banking more efficient in the country.
