Circle Hires Former U.S. Homeland Security Official as Chief Legal Officer
Circle has announced that it hired a former U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee. The new Chief Legal Officer is known as Gus Coldebella, which will be overseeing the firm’s legal, compliance and regulatory issues. The information has been released by Circle in a blog post on September 6.
Gus Coldebella Joins Circle
Mr. Coldebella will be helping Circle to expand all over the world and attract more clients. In order to operate globally, the firm is working with lawyers and regulators that will promote smart legal frameworks. This would encourage the growth of the Internet of Value.
Gus Coldebella has been hired because is a very respected person in the industry and by former colleagues. Additionally, he has an entrepreneurial spirit and is very practical to deal with daily issues.
Coldebella will be in charge of a group of important figures that were recently added to Circle. We are talking about Robert Bench, the Head Regulatory Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer; Carla Carriveau, Senior Regulatory Counsel; Charles Heenan, Senior Legal Counsel, and many others.
In the past Coldebella worked at the DHS with the implementation of the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative. He had to protect the government against cyber-attacks.
At the moment, Circle is offering a wide range of crypto-related services such as an investment application. At the same time, Circle closed a $110 million dollars Series E fundraising back in May. Bitmain led the Series E fundraising. Part of the funding was used to hire new staff at the firm.
In addition to it, Circle wanted to release a ‘U.S. dollar coin.’ This asset could be a stable coin backed by fiat currency such as US dollars.
