Civic and Rivetz to Build Secure Hardware with Blockchain Identity
Civic Joins Hands with Rivetz to Integrate Blockchain Identity With Secure Hardware
A digital identity data platform known as Civic has announced an important partnership with Rivetz, a company involved in developing decentralized mobile security solutions. The two have joined hands to work on digital identity as well as mobile security solutions that integrate hardware protections.
By integrating Rivetz hardware protections with the Civic app, the identity information stored on the Civic app will have an additional layer of protection, guaranteeing more secure ID verification on mobile device manufacturers and global telecom networks.
The Co-Founder and CEO of Civic, Vinny Lingham, believes that blockchain technology is changing the way companies are approaching the issues of privacy and security, stating that Rivetz will help them achieve just that. In his own words, Lingham said that:
“As blockchain technology is changing the way companies approach security and privacy, Rivetz shares our sentiment about the importance of protecting privacy without collecting data. Rivetz security technology will perfectly complement the Civic app to make a secure, trusted digital identity more accessible for people around the world.”
Combining The Power Of Blockchain-Powered Identity With Security-Focused Hardware
Identity is a very complex issue that both organizations and individuals face in the digital world. There have been many reports of data breaches, with Equifax considered as one of the worst cases, whereby 147 million social security numbers were compromised. In 2017, cases of identity theft reached a record high with more around 16.7 victims being affected.
The ability to prove ones identity is still an essential part in the global economy, so there have to be tools to help protect and control information in order to maintain trust. By introducing a secure and trusted digital identity that gives users the power to share on-demand, Civic is changing how people prove their identity.
The CEO and founder of Rivetz, Steven Sprague, believes that in such an era where high-profile breaches are rampant, protecting identity information is crucial, and that’s what their partnership with Civic aims to do. He noted that:
“In an era of high-profile data breaches, identity information is progressively vulnerable to security threats. We’re looking forward to our partnership with Civic to explore solutions that leverage the best of blockchain-based identity and mobile security to create a safer, private user experience that will benefit our telecom partners users across the globe.”
About Civic And Rivetz
Leveraging the power of distributed ledger technology, Civic is a personal identity verification protocol that helps companies better manage digital identities. Its platform is built on the Ethereum’s network and comprises of service providers, validators and individual users.
Rivetz, on the other hand, is a company that helps secures the endpoints by binding the identity verification of individuals with their personal phone’s TEE. By using trusted hardware, the platform allows users to store their personal data, giving them an additional layer of security.
