Clearify is an online wallet address verification service for the crypto industry. Find out how it works today in our review.
What is Clearify?
Clearify is a wallet address verification service that allows users to verify that they genuinely own a specific wallet address.
The platform is designed to reduce fraud in the industry. If you’ve ever participated in an ICO, then you know it can be somewhat uncomfortable to send money to a wallet address online. How do you know that address belongs to the ICO? How do you know a scammer hasn’t created a similar website with a different address? Clearify aims to solve that problem.
Clearify was launched after the creators were almost scammed out of some bitcoin. Here’s how they explain that scam:
“The scam was very clever. We made contact with a business with the intention of ordering their services. A scammer intercepted this contact, then emailed us directly, pretending to be the business. They emailed us a BTC payment address. We had absolutely no way of knowing that this had occurred, and even if we suspected something wasn’t right, it was near impossible to check.”
Obviously, this is a major drawback in the crypto industry. ICO scams are rampant.
Another popular attack involves hacking an ICO’s website, then changing the wallet address. It’s a legitimate company with a legitimate ICO – but all customer funds are now flowing towards somebody else’s wallet.
Clearify wants to solve all of these problems.
How Does Clearify Work?
Clearify wants to help you be 100% sure were your money is going. The free service verifies businesses. Once the business is verified, that business can add unlimited addresses to their unique Clearify profile using their unique private key.
Buyers can check a business’s Clearify profile to ensure they’re sending money to the correct address. All you need to do is copy and paste the address into the Clearify.io entry form. Clearify will check who owns that address. If the address is verified and attached to a specific business, then Clearify will tell you. It will also explain when the address was verified and by whom.
Clearify isn’t run by some centralized company or verification team. instead, it’s a 100% decentralized, secure verification system.
Clearify is accessible as a free app, through the Clearify.io website, or through the browser extension. Here’s the basic process you’ll use to verify an ICO through the website:
Visit the Clearify website or install the Clearify app or browser extension
Paste in the cryptocurrency address to verify who owns it
Check the address verification. If it’s verified, you’ll be 100% sure of who owns it. If not, then Clearify encourages you to contact your seller and request they use Clearify
Meanwhile, here’s how it works for businesses:
The business registers on Clearify.io and begins the verification process; the business will receive a unique private key allowing them to access their secure Clearify space
Add the Clearify verification badge to your official website as part of the verification process
Purchase credits using POLL tokens; Clearify also accepts BTC or fiat, in which case they can buy POLL tokens on behalf of the client
Use credits to add as many cryptocurrency addresses as you like easily, securely, and directly to the Clearify blockchain. The platform accepts BTC, Eth, LTC, NEO, and many other types of addresses. These addresses can be brand new and never used before.
Clearify will use POLL tokens as its currency. However, the team won’t be holding an ICO. You can buy POLL today from exchanges like Cryptopia, KuCoin, HitBTC, and EtherDelta. As mentioned above, you can also just send BTC or fiat to Clearify, in which case the appropriate number of POLL tokens will be purchased for you.
Clearify is also developing a REST API to integrate Clearify into existing cryptocurrency payment systems for fully automated address verification.
