CNBC Bitcoin: Boom or Bust is a Hour Documentary Hosted by Melissa Lee
CNBC’s New “Bitcoin: Boom or Bust” Documentary
CNBC is about to take a deep dive into cryptocurrency. On Monday, August 27, the news network will debut a documentary called “Bitcoin: Boost or Bust.”
As announced earlier this week, the documentary will feature CNBC Fast Money host Melissa Lee. During the one-hour long documentary, Lee will explore “the good, the bad and the ugly sides of bitcoin,” according to a press release.
Here’s how CNBC describes it:
“This original documentary employs pop culture, captivating imagery and a hip-hop score (a staple in crypto-culture) as it follows a wide range of fascinating characters, each with their own passionate argument either for or against bitcoin.”
CNBC plans to feature multiple points of view from across the crypto spectrum, including everyone from “crypto evangelists, including a quirky bitcoin millionaire who lives in a treehouse” and “an escort using bitcoin to transform the sex trade.”
CNBC will also interview “a billionaire venture capitalist” who claims bitcoin is bigger than the internet (Peter Thiel?) as well as “the controversial anarchist leading the ‘crypto revolution’.”
“Bitcoin: Boom or Bust” will even travel to Africa, where viewers get “an eye-opening look at what some bitcoin believers consider a gold mine for crypto investment.”
At the other end of the spectrum, we’ll hear from bitcoin bears, including those who believe bitcoin will be worthless in a year. CNBC interviews Jordan Belfort – the “Wolf of Wall Street” – who will compare bitcoin to his own scams.
“I was a con man,” Belfort explains during his interview with Lee.
“I was, and that’s exactly what’s happening with bitcoin. When this thing busts, there are a lot of innocent people who are going to get slaughtered.”
CNBC interviews other influential figures who are bearish about bitcoin, including an economics professor from Harvard and major names from the financial industry.
“Bitcoin: Boost or Bust” will also take viewers on “a chilling tour of the dark web” that “exposes the cryptocurrency’s criminal underbelly.”
By the end of the documentary, viewers can expect to have a good overall view of how crypto and bitcoin work, including the spectrum of opinions from bitcoin bears, bitcoin bulls, and complete nonbelievers.
