CNBC’s Expert Gives Unpopular Opinion on Bitcoin in HODL or FODL Game
CNBC’s Expert Unpopular Opinion on Bitcoin
Ran Neuner, a CNBC cryptocurrency trends’ analyst, recently shared his view regarding the leading digital currencies. In the broadcaster’s game, titled HODL or FODL (hold or fold), Ran declared that the he would fold Bitcoin, hold Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash, and trash Ripple into oblivion.
Concerning Bitcoin, Ran displayed somewhat reserved optimism on the future of the world’s pioneering cryptocurrency. While he expects the value of Bitcoin which currently fluctuates around the $8,000 mark to increase over time, Ran noted that such a price was low for a coin of BTC’s reputation. Certainly, Ran is more excited about the potential of Bitcoin Cash as compared to its bigger sibling, Bitcoin. This is evident going by his bullish attitude towards BCH.
Ethereum is equally attractive to Neuner as is Bitcoin Cash. In this case, the usability of Ether as well as the commitment of its developers to solve the scalability issues appeal significantly to Ran. For this reason, he expected ETH’s value to appreciate considerably in the coming days.
Ran dismissed Ripple, primarily because it lacks a proper use case. Ran stated that while Ripple (the company) is one of the best, its token (XRP) has no applicability in real-life situations. Therefore, the best course of action is to throw RP into the trash can.
Offensive Responses on Twitter
Undoubtedly, Ran’s opinion caused a stir among crypto enthusiasts. The tweet received over 200 retweets and 640 likes, although the highlight was in the replies. Most of the responses seemed to disagree with Neuner’s claims.
@TenaciousBTC critiqued CNBC for hiring ‘conmen’ and ‘jokers’ to talk about cryptocurrencies. He further went on to compare the Fast Money show to a sitcom. On the other hand, @frandimaio was a bit soft on the criticism, outlining the benefits of XRP. Maio outlined how Ripple has provided a solution to the global remittance challenge, and how it is applicable to micro-transactions. Others opted for humorous memes and GIFs to display their disagreement.
Bias towards Bitcoin Cash
Besides trashing XRP, Ran expressed his backing for the team behind Bitcoin Cash. The XRP decision drew mixed responses, but every user laughed off his opinion on BCH. In recent times, Bitcoin Cash has faced loads of counterattacks from the investor community for purportedly engineering attacks on Bitcoin. Consequently, a lot of crypto hobbyists are questioning Ran’s knowledge of the sector given his stance on Bitcoin Cash.
Previously, Ran’s bias towards Bitcoin Cash came under scrutiny after @fmakrides posted a picture of him together with Roger Ver, one of Bitcoin Cash founders. In Neuner’s hand was a laptop which had a BCH sticker. Ran went on to post on his Twitter that BCH or LTC will soon take over from BTC. However, Ran recently tweeted that he has since removed the BCH sticker from his laptop.
