Coin Jazeera, A New Satire For The Crypto Space, a Cause for Good or Great for the Ecosystem?
The cryptocurrency ecosystem has now a new satire newspaper called Coin Jazeera. Decrypt was able to talk with the founders of this website and talk about their motivations and their intention to create content for the crypto space. They mix important news such as Dan Larimer providing information about the crypto market and make it look satirical.
Coin Jazeera: A New Satirical Crypto News Site
There is a new digital currency site that is currently providing information about the crypto space and community from another perspective.
Some of the headlines presented by Coin Jazeera wrote are the following:
- “John McAfee Building Cocaine Moonbase in Space to Flee IRS.”
- “Dan Larimer Receives Guinness World Record for Most Crypto Exit Scams”
- “Mad King Rune Christensen tries to Burn Down MakerDAO”There are other titles that have also attracted the attention of several individuals. In just a month, the site was able to receive 100,000 page views during the first month. At the same time, the site was endorsed by several high-profile individuals and figures in the crypto market. That includes WhalePanda and Tone Vays.
Decrypt has recently met with some of the individuals that created Coin Jazeera and who are currently running the site. Nonetheless, the details about the founders of the site were not unveiled. They claim to be long-time Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) investors that have witnessed how the cryptocurrency market expanded, including the ICO boom.
They have also mentioned that they are disheartened to see how the space has been influenced by opportunists. They said that they want to influence the industry to get back on the right track. At the same time, in 2017, the industry was full of scams, including ICOs that run away with money from investors and more.
Nonetheless, they write such articles because they want to have a good time and also to blast some people that “needed to be blasted.” These individuals have been thinking about releasing a satirical news site about virtual currencies after the 2017 ICO boom. Thus, they were convinced that the industry could take itself so seriously and satire would be a good vehicle to convey inconvenient truths.
One of the figures targeted by the satirical crypto news site was Justin Sun, the CEO and Founder of Tron (TRX). Although they are a satire, their mission is to correct the industry and fix the problems that they see.
Coin Jazeera became one of the first crypto satire news sites in which they talk about the cryptocurrency space. Some individuals such as John McAfee or Justin Sun have already been mentioned on the site.
