In a blog post released by Coinbase, the firm revealed that it is now supporting five extra cryptos for use with its Visa debit card. As per the firm, its clients can now use the Visa card in 10 extra European countries.
The addition to the five new crypto assets, this now brings the total number of supported cryptos to ten. The newly added cryptos comprise of XRP, Stellar (XLM), Augur (REP), 0x (ZRX), Basic Attention Token (BAT),. Coinbase already offers support for the major cryptos comprising of Ether (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC) as well as Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
According to the blog post, Coinbase Visa card services will now be available in Sweden, Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, Romania, Croatia, Iceland, Denmark, Poland, Hungary and Norway.
Coinbase UK CEO, Zeeshan Feroz, explained that increasing the crypto assets that clients can use with their Coinbase card and expanding to more countries will enhance the use of cryptos in the mainstream and not only be used as an investment.
Coinbase is one of the largest crypto exchanges in the US and also provides wallet services. The firm introduced its Visa debit card to serve its UK and European clients in April this year. The Visa debit card gives the users the power to make daily transactions using their digital assets contained in a Coinbase account. The platform changes the virtual coins into fiat currencies but at a charge.
Coinbase also clarified that it's debit card is usable at any point where Visa is accepted around the world. However, the charges vary depending on the country of use.
The use of debit cards in the crypto space has been on the rise since the start of the year. Litecoin revealed in June that it was working with Bibox Exchange as well as with Ternio, a blockchain-based firm and will introduce a crypto debit card in the near future. Similarly, in June, Crypterium, crypto payment company, revealed that it had imported about 4,000 crypto debit cards after introducing its card platform, Cointelegraph reports.
