According to a post on their blog, Coinbase has explained that the
“goal with Coinbase Wallet is to create the world’s leading user-custodied crypto wallet. Coinbase Wallet already supports Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, and over 100,000 different ERC20 tokens and ERC721 collectibles built on Ethereum. Adding support for Bitcoin is an important next step in that direction.”
About the New Feature.
Coinbase Wallet’s new update will at some point in the coming week, be available for all handlers on the Android and iOS platforms. The Bitcoin feature will be automatically used as soon as the new update is downloaded and it will have a “Receive” button that lets you send Bitcoin to your wallet.
Furthermore, there is an assurance of security as private keys will still be properly encrypted with Secure Enclave. Many stakeholders agree that this is the safest way to protect personal information on user’s smartphones.
Other Coinbase Features
The official blog also has more information about using their app. According to the post,
“If you have only ever used the primary Coinbase app (or Coinbase.com), we encourage you to check out Coinbase Wallet. The Coinbase Wallet app is Coinbase’s user-controlled cryptocurrency wallet. With Coinbase.com, you can buy crypto and Coinbase stores it (along with your private keys) for you; with Coinbase Wallet, you store your own crypto (safeguarded by a private key that only you know).”
