Coinbase’s Toshi Wallet Adds 0x (ZRX), Maker (MKR) and Basic Attention Token (BAT) to Display
Is Coinbase About to Add ZRX, MRK and BAT Support?
Coinbase’s progress in the cryptocurrency industry has been at a steady pace. In a recent decision to convert their Toshi Wallet, investors were delighted and surprised to find that they had taken on several new tokens in the process for consumers to use in their wallets, including Maker, 0X, and Basic Attention Token. Coinbase and its exchange have already decided to explore other assets as well, and users will soon be able to trade with greater flexibility on the exchange.
Looking closely at the tweet and annoucement by Coinbase you can see those tokens listed:
Toshi is now @CoinbaseWallet! This is not just a new name, but part of a larger effort to invest in products that will define the future of the decentralized web and make that future accessible to anyone. https://t.co/dIn5CRE6eZ pic.twitter.com/bmdQmpe6Gs

The current list of potential tokens being explored includes:
Even though they have released this list, Coinbase has still not confirmed that any will definitely be available. Right now, Maker is only being evaluated by Coinbase Custody, rather than Coinbase’s exchange. The exchange’s transaction options are not synonymous with what coins the wallet decides to accept.
This adaption has happened rather quickly, considering that the announcement of the Toshi wallet conversion only happened a few days ago. Since the transition, the Toshi wallet has become the Coinbase wallet. “Toshi was developed by the Coinbase team a little over a year ago,” according to Coinbase’s press release.
The release also says:
“When the product launched, it featured the world’s first mobile dApp browser. Later, we became the first wallet to launch crypto collectibles. Our goal was to make managing crypto and accessing the decentralized web as easy as downloading an app on your mobile phone. And as part of our effort to be the most trusted brand in the space, we also set out to provide best-in-class secure storage. With Coinbase Wallet, your private keys are secured using your device’s Secure Enclave and biometric authentication technology.”
With the new launch, there are additional benefits to users, which primarily has to do with making transactions and transfers easier for them. Based on the information available, the wallet release will let users:
- Manage all ETH and ERC-20 tokens
- Become eligible for airdrops and ICO tokens
- Buy and store collectible crypto assets
- Send payments locally and across borders
- Interact with other decentralized exchanges for the opportunity to buy and sell tokens there
- Investigate dApps
Every cryptocurrency platform and wallet have a goal of constantly expanding, because the industry wants to move towards mainstream use. The only way to do that is to develop a community that remains decentralized while offering benefits that the traditional financial infrastructure does not at the moment. That does not mean they will not ever be able to adapt, but the experimental nature of the cryptocurrency world is what makes it the perfect place to test out ideas that other industries cannot.
