Comprehensive 2018 Dapp Performance for ETH, TRX, Steem and EOS Cryptocurrency Projects

The Dapp Market Report for 2018 released by Dapp.com seeks to provide an insight into the performance of the four main blockchains(Steem, Tron, Eos, and Ethereum) over the past year. The report has dwelled on the contributions of each blockchain in Dapps and DEX ecosystems. It has also provided a detailed overview of each individual market.

2018 was a year that saw Dapps begin to flourish, with many reaching their ecosystems during that period. According to the report, this was a period that can best be described as the Dapp Movement. Dapps were able to flourish at a time when many cryptocurrencies had been struck by the persistent bear market.

A Breakdown Of The Figures

Over the course of the year, the Dapps were able to generate cumulative total revenue of $6.7 billion. Decentralized exchanges (DEX) also became a major contributor to this particular market segment. According to figures included in the report, close to forty percent of all Dapps transactional volume was in the form of contributions from DEX.

The report goes ahead to state that 1,423 Dapps were developed during this period. Of this, 1,045 were allied to the ETH blockchain, 235 were from EOS, 97 were from TRX, while the remaining ones came from STEEM. Their cumulative transactional volume came to a total of $6.73 billion, with decentralized exchanges contributing a cumulative total of $2.61 billion.

The Annual Dapp Summary

According to statistics from the report:

  • ETH blockchain generated $2.66 billion from the 1045 Dapps that had been developed in the course of that year. Of these, 78% were from DEX.
  • EOS was able to generate a total of three point five billion from two hundred and thirty-five Dapps. Of these, 75% came from apps associated with betting.
  • Tron was able to generate a total cumulative volume of six hundred and five million from ninety-seven Dapps. Of these, 98% came from betting applications as well.
  • STEEM, on the other hand, generated a total of six point five million from forty-six Dapps.

From the figures mentioned above, it is easy to note that, even though the ETH blockchain system happened to have the highest number of Dapps compared to all the others, it was not able to generate the same revenue as the ecosystems with a fewer number of Dapps.

For instance, the EOS ecosystem had fewer Dapps but still managed to generate a considerable amount of revenue. This means that EOS is the one ecosystem that generated the most volume from all these decentralized applications followed closely by ETH, TRX, and Steem.

Quarter Four Dapp Summary

Quarter Four saw a total of two hundred and fifty-eight decentralized applications being developed. When all these Dapps are put together, they were able to contribute more than two billion dollars in cumulative volume. These Dapps also managed to amass a total user base of close to two hundred and eleven thousand users. When ranked in terms of user numbers, EOS comes out ahead as it made a contribution of more than sixty-nine percent.
