Craig Wright Continuously Insists He Is Satoshi; Will We Ever Find the Real Nakamoto?
Bitcoin, the world’s premier cryptocurrency was created over a decade ago by a person or group of persons known as Satoshi Nakamoto. However, in all this time, no one actually knows who Satoshi really is and the search for any real information that can identify Satoshi is still on.
However, in recent times, Craig Wright – the creator of Bitcoin SV – has publicly declared multiple times, that he is in fact, the real Satoshi Nakamoto.
Most recently, during a Bitcoin Wednesday event in Amsterdam Wright again declared he really is Satoshi, expressing that he made the decision to reveal himself in a bid to correct the problems that had developed with his invention. According to him:
“Part of why I f****ng disappeared was to have things not controlled, and I have to come back to control things, to get it f****ng not controlled, that’s the freaking irony of this sh*t.”
The Origin of Wright as Satoshi
Sometime in December 2015, an article published by Wired, insinuated based on some information it had gotten, that Craig Wright possibly was the real Satoshi – creator of Bitcoin.
However, a little later, it was discovered that the information that Wired based its suggestion on, was in fact deliberately leaked out by Wright. When this was found out, no one took Wright serious about it anymore and even Wired dissociated itself, saying that it no longer stood by its earlier suggestion that Wright is Nakamoto.
Wright on Why He Supposedly Left Bitcoin
Speaking further at the event, Craig Wright expressed that he was afraid of being under attack and this fear drove him to abandon Bitcoin. He explained that anyone at the top is automatically a target and:
“I didn’t want that. I wanted not to be the target.”
At the moment, most cryptocurrency supporters are definitely still interested in the possibility of finding out who the real Satoshi Nakamoto is but no one really believes Wright or is paying him much attention.
More Aspersions Unknowingly Cast by Wright
Even as no one really believes all of Wright’s claims, he seemed to dig a deeper hole for himself, making statements that contradict what is known of the real Satoshi. Firstly, Wright said at the event, that he was a poor programmer and that his coding prowess is way below par.
He also called himself an “academic coder” saying that he knows next to nothing about actual coding. This is a direct contradiction with what is widely known of Satoshi Nakamoto who, back in 2008, specifically expressed in a mailing list that “I’m better with code than with words though”.
Furthermore, Wright also revealed that when it comes to coding, he doesn’t engage himself and always pays real coders to carry out the work. This, it would seem, is another contradictory statement as Satoshi was very involved with the development of Bitcoin.
Will We Ever Find the Real Satoshi?
We might be able to conclude now that Craig Wright isn’t the real Satoshi even as he’s very willing to sue anyone who seriously contradicts him on the matter. But the question is, will we ever find out who the real Satoshi is?
A few days ago, a new website launched with a “promise” to unveil the real Satoshi Nakamoto by the 14th of May. The website features one question “WHERE IN THE WORLD IS SATOSHI?” with a live countdown to the big reveal?
Is there any chance that this could be real or is it just a publicity stunt?
