Crypto Community Comedy Sees Vitalik Buterin Fail to Have Etheruem’s Symbol Added to Google Keyboard

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum (ETH) tried to legitimize Ether as a virtual currency by integrating its symbol on Google’s keyboard. Google has recently legitimized Bitcoin’s symbol as a valid currency sign that will now be part of the others featured on its keyboard such as $, €, £, among others.

This shows that the Bitcoin icon is being recognized by one of the most influential technology companies around the world. Due to this situation, Vitalik Buterin decided to request Google on Twitter to add support to the ETH icon natively to their next keyboard iteration.

The company wrote shortly after a very interesting answer. Apparently, they will not be adding support to ETH’s icon due to the fact they believe everything else is legally questionable and not viable.

On the matter, Google wrote:

“Thank you for your interest regarding our keyboard product. We regretfully have to inform you that Google will not add any other crypto icons to the keyboard besides Bitcoin, because we believe everything else is legally questionable and long-term not viable.”

Last year, Buterin tweeted a screenshot regarding a job offer from Google. Indeed, he asked his followers in a Twitter poll what to do, if to abandon Ethereum and join Google’s staff or not. More than 50 percent of the people answered that he should not accept this offer.

Bitcoin is being recognized as a virtual currency and is being embraced by several companies around the world. During the last ten years, the digital asset has proven to be very resilient and also reliable. Now, the most popular cryptocurrency is being traded close to $4,000.

Ethereum is the second largest virtual currency in the market after Bitcoin. It has a market capitalization of $15.5 billion and each ETH coin can be purchased for $147.
